Web Sites of Institutions, Activites, and People Who Are Dedicated to Serving Other People --

Shelter House is a community-based, non-profit organization serving homeless families in Fairfax County, Virginia.  It's mission is to provide crisis intervention, safe housing and supportive services to promote self-sufficiency for homeless families and victims of domestic violence in Fairfax County.

So Others Might Eat (S.O.M.E.) is an interfaith, community-based organization that exists to help the poor and homeless of our nation's capital.  They meet the immediate daily needs of the people they serve with food, clothing, and health care.  They help break the cycle of homelessness by offering services, such as affordable housing, job training, addiction treatment, and counseling, to the poor, the elderly and individuals with mental illness.  Each day, S.O.M.E. restores hope and dignity one person at a time.

Web Sites Useful For Bible Study and Christian History --

Bible Study Tools is the largest free online Bible website for verse search and in-depth studies.  It is Christ-centered, bringing glory to God in all that we do, equipping people to grow in their faith and the practical application of it in their lives, enhancing fellowship, communication and relationship-building within the Christian community, and encouraging and enabling personal involvement in the care of those who are spiritually, emotionally, physically or financially poor.

Bible Hub - Use search and study tools including parallel texts, cross references, Treasury of Scripture, and commentaries.  Get quick access to topical studies, interlinears, sermons, Strong's Concordance (both Hebrew and Greek) and many more resources.  Bible Hub provides visibility and accessibility of the Scriptures online, free access to Bible study tools in many languages, and promotes the Gospel of Christ through the learning, study and application of God's word.

Christian Classics Etherial Library (CCEL) is a digital library of hundreds of classic Christian books selected for edification and education.  CCEL texts are stored in their own Theological Markup Language and converted automatically into other formats for on-line viewing or download.

The Fathers of the Church has the works of the Ante- and Post-Nicene Fathers of the Church for reading on-line.

The Center for Reformed Theology and Apologetics has links to works of interest to various Christian denominations.

Early Christian Writings has all of the Christian writings, canonical and non-canonical, that are believed to have been written in the first and second centuries, as well as a few selected from the early third.  Also included are some non-Christian documents that may have special bearing on the study of early Christianity  There are links to English translations for all of the documents.  When available, the work is also provided in the original language, usually Greek  The is also information and scholarly opinion regarding the background, authorship, dating, and provenance of these documents.

The Internet History Sourcebooks Project is a collection of public domain and copy-permitted historical texts presented cleanly (without advertising or excessive layout) for educational use.  Texts may be read on-line.

Foxe's Book of Martyrs - John Foxe or Fox (1518-1587), a staunchly Protestant divine, wrote this book as this story seen from the Protestant point of view.  There are Links to .pdf files of all 14 volumes.

Grace E-Books provides books for free download.  All books are either in the public domain, or published with the permission of the author or publisher.  Both 'classic' and 'contemporary' materials are available.

GraceTheological Journal Vols 1 - 12 (1980 - 1991), a peer-reviewed academic journal published by Grace Theological Seminary, contains articles of theological interest, the majority of which were written by the faculty of the seminary.  The articles are available for free download.

References to Music in the Bible refers to provides references to over 1,150 verses in the Bible for many words, which may be related to music.  Links to Scriputure for many kinds of music are provided.  They include these topics: Vocal Praise to God; Instrumental Praise to God; Merriment and Bereavement; The Message of Horns; The Trumps of God; A Horn of Exaltation; anmd other miscellaneous references to music.

Web Sites Useful For the Study of Christian Music --

Liturgical Music at Hymanry.org - Search for hymns and worship music for worship services.  Researching a particular hymn.  Look for an arrangement or media file.  Hymnary.org is an online hymn and worship music database for worship leaders, hymnologists, and amateur hymn lovers alike.  Search or browse hymns by title, tune, meter, key, scripture reference, and more.  Hymanry.org is in partnership with The Hymn Society in the United States and Canada and now houses the Dictionary of North American Hymnology making Hymnary.org the most complete database of North American hymnodyavailable.

Net Hymnal is an excellent rsearch site with over 10,000 hymns, lyrics, and author biographies.

The Center for Church Music provides information about hymns to assist the church - pastors, music directors and key laypeople - in maintaining fidelity to its biblical and historical heritage of music  It brings together congregational singing and choral and instrumental music.
